A Study on the Relationship between Digital Addiction and the Sense of Anti-Mattering among High School Students
Öz
The purpose of this study is to explore the connection between high school students' digital addiction levels and their feelings of insignificance (anti-mattering). Additionally, the study investigated whether students' digital addiction and anti-mattering levels differed significantly based on gender. A relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was employed. The research population consisted of high school students attending public schools in three metropolitan cities during the 2022–2023 academic year. A total of 472 students who were randomly selected and volunteered to participate formed the study sample. The participants completed the "Digital Addiction Scale for Adolescents" and the "Anti-Mattering Scale." Data were analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 statistical software package. To determine the appropriate statistical tests, normality tests were conducted, and since the data showed a normal distribution, parametric tests were used in the analysis. According to the results, there was a moderate, positive, and statistically significant relationship between digital addiction and feelings of insignificance among high school students. Furthermore, it was found that both digital addiction and anti-mattering levels differed significantly by gender.
