Using Object Based Techniques to Study Turkic Texts

Word processors can be ıısed to write letters and produce documents. Presentation programs can be ıısed to prodııce presentations at conferences. Programs as these can be used in the stııdy of Old Turkic texts. These tools are collectively known under the heading !nformation Technology. This is an ili defıned term but behind it are methods that are becomingformalised. These nıethods break up everything into abstract objects and the relationships between thenı and the actions performed by these objects. This paper tries to use some of the techniques used in !nfornıation Technology and apply them in the study of Old Turkic texts. As a practica/ app/ication. the Orkhon Stones are used. it is suggested thaı by ıısing these techniques Turkic texts can he ıınderstood in a difef rent context and add to the know/edge associated with these texts.
