A Sample Instruction Towards Integration of Physics, Chemistry and Biology In Science Teaching

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of integration in primary science
teaching on students' cognitive level. For this, researchers developed some teaching
materials are suitable for integrated science teaching. The subject of this study consist of
62 8th grade students in a primary school in İzmir. The students in the experimental group
(n=31) were taught by using the prepared materials whereas the control group (n=31)
were taught traditionally. Before and after treatment, both group were given multiple
choice test, open ended questions. When treatment ended, 9 students from both groups
(experimental and control group) were interviewed. As a result, there is a significant
difference between the experimental group and the control group on the cognitive level in
favor of the experimental group.
