Functionality of Imam Hatip High School Qur'ān Course Curriculum in Terms of Vocational Education - Structural Problems and Suggestions-
Abstract
Since its establishment, Imam Hatip high schools have received great favor from the people of our country and have served an important function in religious education and vocational education. These schools, which train stu-dents for the profession and higher education, continue to carry out success-ful work with different project applications outside the field of theology. However, field proficiency cannot be achieved due to the lack of student selection in vocational education other than Ḥāfiẓ (Complete memorization of the Qur'ān) project schools/programs and the lack of a place for Professional Courses in the entrance exam in the field of higher education/Theology. There are problems in the implementation of the Holy Qur’ān course curriculum of Imam Hatip High Schools prepared for vocational education. Although the curriculum is theoretically vocational, in practice there are big differences between the current situation and the goals and teaching the Qur’ān cannot reach its goal in terms of proficiency in recitation. For this reason, in the study, what are the targeted gains in reading from the mushaf- memorization, tajweed İnformation the Qurʾān course? Are these goals achievable? How can these gains be made more operational? Should the Qur'ān courses in schools be viewed from a vocational perspective? Key issues are addressed. In addi-tion to making vocational Quran teaching functional in IHL schools, it is aimed to create the infrastructure for the Theology Faculties to specialize in Qurʾān reading. Although the vocational status of schools is not discussed, professional needs are mentioned in the variety of programs. For this purpose, the Holy Qur'ān course curriculum; It was examined in terms of their pro-fessional goals, objectives and achievements within the framework of recitation/reading competence. First of all the achievements of the curriculum are revealed. After that, The approach to Quran lessons within the framework of general religious education in existing schools and the framework program are mentioned. It was emphasized that Vocational/Theological Project Imam Hatip High Schools should be opened in order for the Holy Qurʾān courses to reach their professional and academic goals, and a framework program was proposed. In this context, studies on Qurʾān education and Imam Hatip schools were scanned and the compatibility of the current student potential and the goals was evaluated by observation method and of professional experience.
