TEACHERS’ POINT OF VIEW ON MUSEUMS AS A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to determine the recognition and awareness levels of the nursery, primary and high school teachers working in the province of Ankara in terms of their view on museums as a learning environment. For the study, a SWOT analysis was conducted on the preschool teachers working in Ankara to determine the strengths and weaknesses of museum education, and a survey consisting of three parts was carried out over class teachers and high school branch teachers. In the study, firstly the probable positive and negative aspects of the use of museum visits for educational purposes were indicated with respect to the teachers’ ideas on museum education. Thus, suggestions were presented having stated the teachers’ view on the rare usage or complete ignorance of museums as a learning environment
