LITERATURE EDUCATION WITH A READER-ORIENTED APPROACH

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the teaching of literature as an important component of not only language education but also mainstream education on the basis of both theoretical and practical grounds, drawing upon the relationship among language, human, culture and literature. In this regard, the study seeks to highlight reception aesthetics as a theoretical perspective that has come to be a milestone, leading a paradigm shift in the teaching of literature. Moreover, traditional literature teaching will be discussed in the light of the reader-oriented approach within the scope of reception aesthetics.
