Turizm Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin İngilizce İletişim Becerilerinin Geliştirilmesine Yönelik Gereksinim Çözümlemesine Dayalı Bir Program Önerisi

Öz

Çalışmanın amacı turizm fakültesi öğrencilerinin İngilizce
iletişim becerilerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik gereksinimlerini belirlemek,
belirlenen gereksinimler ışığında turizm fakültelerine yönelik mesleki
İngilizce öğrenme çıktılarını oluşturarak bir mesleki İngilizce programı
önermektir. Araştırma evrenini Türkiye’deki tüm turizm fakülteleri
oluşturmaktadır.  Çalışmada 6 turizm
fakültesindeki öğrencilerden, turizm alan öğretim elemanlarından, İngilizce
derslerine giren öğretim elemanlarından, turizm fakültesi mezunlarından ve turizm
sektörü yönetici temsilcilerinden anket yolu ile veri toplanmıştır. Toplanan
verilerin analiziyle turizm fakültesi öğrencilerinin İngilizce iletişim
becerilerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik gereksinimleri paydaşlar gözünden
belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında, turizm fakültelerine yönelik
Global Scale of English (GSE) Toolkit kullanılarak dört dil becerisi temelli
mesleki İngilizce öğrenme çıktıları oluşturulmuş, oluşturulan öğrenme çıktıları
GSE düzeylerine göre sistematik olarak dönemlere dağıtılarak bir ilgili
fakültelere yönelik dört yıllık bir mesleki İngilizce programı
geliştirilmiştir. Bu çalışma turizm fakültesi öğrencilerinin İngilizce iletişim
becerilerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik bir mesleki İngilizcesi programı
önermesinin yanı sıra, mesleki İngilizce programı geliştirmeye yönelik bundan
sonraki çalışmalar için bir platform görevi üstlenmesi beklenmektedir.

A Program Proposal For The Development Of English Communication Skılls Of Tourism Faculty Students Based On Needs Analysis

Öz

The aim of this study is to find out the needs of tourism faculty students for the development of their English communication skills, to create vocational English learning outcomes and to design a vocational English program. The population of the study consists of all tourism faculties in Turkey. The participants were from the six tourism faculties taken as the sample of the research; the undergraduate students, the tourism lecturers and those teaching English, the graduates of tourism faculties and the representatives of the tourism sector. The relevant data were collected from the stakeholders through a questionnaire. In line with the findings of the study, vocational English learning outcomes were created using Global Scale of English (GSE) Toolkit and the outcomes were distributed to academic terms using the GSE range of each outcome systematically, and a vocational English program was developed. This study is an important one for tourism faculty students as it has proposed vocational English learning outcomes for the development of English communication skills of tourism students and proposed an exemplary method for developing a vocational English program as well as forming a platform for the further studies in the field.
