An Example Of Bıographıcal Novel: Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’ın Son Savunması - Her Şey Bana Karşı
Öz
Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar is one of the most popular writers of literary scholars. As a writer not only
giving works in many fields of literature but also attracts attention as a literary historian, Tanpınar’s life
and sense of art is fictionalized strikingly as a novel by Murat Koç who is a professor of Modern Turkish
Literature. Koç’s work entitled Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’ın Son Savunması - Her Şey Bana Karşı as a good
example of biographical novel which is not very common in Turkey and generally considered under the
heading of “hybrid” genres in Western scholarship is organised as a first-person narrative focusing mainly
on exploring Tanpınar’s inner world. Being very creative in terms of fiction and technically going beyond
the borders of first-person narration, this novel is also important in terms of bringing some issues related
to fiction – fact distinction. In this context, we will first evaluate the novel within the context of fiction –
fact distinction, then we will examine it in terms of biography and autobiography genres and mention some
narrative techniques used in the novel.
