LİSE ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN NARSİSTİK HAYRANLIK VE REKABET İLE BENLİK SAYGILARI ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Çalışmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin narsistik hayranlık ve rekabet özellikleri ile benlik saygıları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. İlişkisel tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, 1058 lise öğrencisinin katılımı ile gerçekleşmiştir. Araştırmada “Narsistik Hayranlık ve Rekabet Ölçeği” ve “Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, frekans ve yüzde dağılımı, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, kolerasyon ve regresyon analizi testinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda öğrencilerin en fazla benzersizlik, hayranlık, büyüklenme ve cazibe; en az değersizleştirme, rekabet, üstünlük ve saldırganlık yaşadıkları bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin benlik saygısı düzeyleri incelendiğinde, en fazla bazı olumlu özelliklerim olduğunu düşünüyorum; en az kendimde gurur duyacak fazla bir şey bulamıyorum maddelerini benimsemişlerdir. Narsistik hayranlık ve rekabet ile öğrencilerin benlik saygıları arasında orta düzeyde pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin benlik saygıları ile büyüklenme, hayranlık, benzersizlik ve cazibe algıları arasında orta düzeyde pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki; değersizleştirme, rekabet, saldırganlık ve üstünlük algıları arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin değersizleştirme, saldırganlık ve üstünlük algılarının azaltılıp, benlik saygısı düzeylerinin iyileştirilmesine yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

Investigation of the Relationship Between High School Students’ Narcissistic Admiration and Rivalry and Their Self-Esteem

Öz

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of high school students’ levels of narcissistic admiration and rivalry and their self-esteem. The relational screening method was used. The study was conducted with the participation of 1058 high school students. “The Narcissistic Admiration and Rivalry Scale” and “The Self-Esteem Scale” were used in the study. Frequency, percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, correlation and regression analysis were used in the analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that the students’ uniqueness, admiration, grandiosity and charmingness were on the highest levels, and their devaluation, rivalry, supremacy and aggressiveness were on the lowest levels. When the students' self-esteem levels were examined, they adopted that I think I have some positive qualities were on the highest levels; I can't find much to be proud of myself items were on the lowest levels. A moderate positive relationship was found between the participants’ narcissistic admiration and rivalry and their self-esteem. A moderate positive relationship were found between the perceptions of the students’ self-esteem with, admiration, uniqueness and charmingness; that there is a significant negative relationship were found between devaluation, rivalry, aggressiveness and supremacy. Suggestions were made to reduce the students' perceptions of devaluation, aggressiveness and supremacy and improve their self-esteem levels.
