This research has been aimed to reveal the effect of expository text structure on reading comprehension.Thirty students in the experiment group and twenty-nine students in the control group,totally fifty-nine students of Kulu 60.Yyl Primary School have attended this research in 2010-2011 Education Year.This research has been conducted in the Static-GroupComparing design of the quasi-experimental design.In this resarch teaching of the expository text constructures such as "Description , Sequence, Comparison ,Causal and effect and Problemand Solution" have been applied to the students in the experiment group.In the conrtol group, there has not been any teaching on text constructure but reading aloud and silent reading exercises have been done.After these exercises ,ten elemental comprehension test composed of open ending questions based on expository text has been applied to the both of the groups.Comprehension points have been formed according to this measurement. 't test' has been used for comparing the points of the expository text structure of the two groups,the experimental and the control group.When the comprehension points of the two groups are compared,there has been a significant difference in favour of the experiment group.The results of this research have revealed that teaching of the text structure has a great effect on reading comprehension of the students.
