Öz

Bu makale, Chomsky’nin Evrensel Dilbilgisi kuramı ile Goethe’nin Dünya Edebiyatı tasavvuru arasındaki koşutlukları, Merihli bir gözlemci kurgusuyla sınamakta, dilin insan beyninde içsel düzeyde örgütlendiği varsayımını, edebiyatın milletleri aşan hafızasıyla yan yana tetkik etmektedir. Evrensel Dilbilgisi, çocuklukta hızlı edinimi mümkün kılan ortak yapılar ile düşünce ve iletişim odaklı bir örüntüye işaret etmektedir. Dünya Edebiyatı fikri ise metinlerin dolaşımı, tercüme ve etkileşim sayesinde teşekkül eden çok kültürlü, milletler üstü bir kanon iddiasındadır. Merihli gözlemcinin bakış açısı, yerelci okuma alışkanlıklarını terk edip dildeki bilişsel evrensellikler ile edebiyattaki izleksel ve biçimsel süreklilikleri aynı soru etrafında toplamaktadır. Çalışma, bu iki çerçeveyi karşılaştırmalı tahlille mezcederek dil ve edebiyatta evrenseller meselesini yeniden düşünmek ve ortak bir zemin ile bütünleşik bir yöntem teklif etmek gayesindedir.

An Analysis of the Parallels Between Chomsky's “Universal Grammar” and Goethe's “World Literature” From a Martian Perspective

Öz

The article tests parallels between Chomsky’s Universal Grammar and Goethe’s World Literature through the fiction of a Martian observer. It juxtaposes the assumption that language is internally organized in the human brain with literature’s transnational memory that crosses nations. Universal Grammar posits shared structural principles enabling rapid childhood acquisition and patterns rooted in thought and communication. World Literature, in contrast, claims a multicultural, supranational canon formed through textual circulation, translation, and interaction. The Martian vantage breaks with localist reading habits and gathers cognitive universals in language and thematic and formal continuities in literature around a single question. By merging these frameworks via comparative analysis, the study seeks to rethink universals in language and literature and to propose a common ground and an integrated method.
