The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary biotin supplemented at different levels on performance, egg quality and hatchability parameters in breeder quails. In this study, a total of 120 Japanese quails (80 females and 40 males) at 11 weeks of age were randomly distributed into 4 experimental groups. Each treatment group consisted of 5 replicates with 6 quails (2 males, 4 females) each. During the 70-day experimental period, quails were given 5 diets based on corn and soybean meal containing 0,495 mg/kg biotin and 0 (control), 0.20, 0.40 and 0.80 mg/kg biotin. Biotin supplemented at different levels had no effect on average body weight, feed consumption, egg quality traits and hatchability parameters (P>0.05). Biotin supplementation to the diet provided a linear increase in live weights of female quails (P<0.05), whereas it showed a quadratic effect in males (P<0.05). The average live weight gain increased linearly with biotin supplementation to the diet (P<0.05). Egg production of breeding quails was linear (P<0.05), egg weight, egg mass and feed evaluation were significantly improved quadratic (P<0.01) with biotin supplementation to the diet and the best results in these parameters were obtained at 0.40 mg/kg level. External and internal egg quality characteristics and hatchability results were not affected by biotin supplementation to the diet (P>0.05). According to the results obtained from the study, biotin supplementation at 0.40 mg/kg (total 0.895 mg/kg) to the diet was effective in increasing the performance of breeding quails without affecting egg quality and hatchability parameters.
