Complementary Health Approaches Use and Affecting Factors of Among University Female Students

Öz

Objective: This
research was carried out to determine the situation of a complementary health
approaches  use and affecting factors of
among female university students .

Methods: This
cross-sectional and descriptive study was carried out on female students
studying at Yozgat Bozok University. The population of the study was composed
of the 8200 female student at the University. The study was completed with 944
female students volunteering to participate in the research. The data was
collected by using questionnaire consisting of the information about the
students demographic characteristics and using state of complementary health
approaches (CHA). In the evaluation of the data Chi-square test and
bonferroni were performed.

Results: The mean age
of the university female students was 18.8
±0.8. It was
determined that 99.6% of the participants were single and 65.7% of them were in
the middle of economic status, 79.9% of used CHA. Students used of CHA were,
exercise (85.0%), listening music (73.2%), hot-cold compress (55.1%), shower
(44.7%), sleep (42.9%), yoga (1.3%), acupuncture (1%), hypnosis (0.3%). Student
use of alternative treatment methods were herbal therapy (87.2%), vitamin-mineral
support (85.8%). 

Conclusions: It was found that the students used the largest of CHA. Among CHA most
herbal therapy is used. Female students who stay at home and smoke during their
university education use CHA methods more.

Üniversiteli Kız Öğrencilerin Tamamlayıcı Sağlık Yaklaşımlarını Kullanma Durumları ve Etkileyen Faktörler

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma
üniversiteli kız öğrencilerin tamamlayıcı sağlık yaklaşımlarını kullanma
durumlarını ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı.



Yöntem: Kesitsel ve
tanımlayıcı tipte olan bu araştırma Yozgat Bozok Üniversite’sinde öğrenim gören
kız öğrenciler üzerinde yürütüldü. Araştırmanın evrenini, öğrenim gören kız
8200 kız öğrenci oluşturdu. Çalışma, araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü 944 kız
öğrenciyle tamamlandı. Veriler öğrencilerin sosyo-demografik
özelliklerini,  tamamlayıcı sağlık
yaklaşımlarını (TSY) kullanma durumlarını saptamaya yönelik geliştirilen anket
formu ile toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; ki-kare ve
bonferroni testi kullanıldı.



Bulgular: Üniversiteli kız
öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 18.8±0.8 olarak bulundu.  Katılımcıların %99,6’sının bekâr, %65.7’sinin
gelir durumunun orta düzeyde olduğu, %79.9’unun TSY kullandığı belirlendi.
Öğrencilerin  TSY olarak  %85 egzersiz, %73.2 müzik dinleme, %67.7
masaj, %55.1 sıcak-soğuk kompres, %44.7 duş alma, %42.9 uyku, %1.3 yoga, %1
akupunktur, %0.3 hipnoz; alternatif tedavi yöntemleri (bitkisel ve besinsel
yaklaşım) olarak %87 bitkisel terapi, %85.8 vitamin-mineral kullandıkları
bulundu.



Sonuç: Üniversiteli kız
öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğu TSY kullanmaktadır. TSY’ndan en fazla bitkisel
terapiye başvurulmaktadır. Üniversite öğrenimi sırasında evde kalan ve sigara
kullanan kız öğrenciler TSY yöntemlerini daha fazla kullanmaktadır.
