PRENATAL HORMON MARUZİYETİNİN KARİYER DEĞERLERİNE ETKİSİ: 2D:4D ORANI PERSPEKTİFİ

Öz

2d:4d oranı, insanlarda işaret parmak uzunluğunun yüzük parmağı uzunluğuna bölünmesiyle elde edilen bir orandır. Bu oran, prenatal (doğum öncesi) hormon maruziyetinin bir göstergesi olarak kabul edilmektedir. Düşük 2d:4d oranı yüksek testesteron maruziyetinin bir göstergesidir ve daha çok erkeklerde bu oran düşük çıkmaktadır. Yüksek 2d:4d oranı ise, yüksek östrojen maruziyetine işaret etmekle birlikte kadınlarda bu oran daha yüksektir. 2d:4d oranının bireylerin psikolojik ve biyolojik özelliklerini anlamada değerli bir araç olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışma, 2d:4d parmak uzunluğu oranı ile bireylerin kariyer değerleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemekle birlikte kariyer değerlerine etki eden diğer demografik özellikleri de araştırmaktadır. 536 önlisans öğrencisi üzerine yapılan çalışmada anket yöntemi kullanılmış ayrıca öğrencilerin parmak uzunlukları dijital kumpas yardımıyla ölçülüp 2d:4d oranları elde edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucuna göre, cinsiyet ile kariyer değerleri alt boyutları arasında anlamlı ilişkiler bulunmuştur. Ayrıca çalışmada aynı biyolojik cinsiyete sahip ancak farklı beyin cinsiyetine sahip katılımcıların kariyer değerleri açısından farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı incelenmiş ve farklı beyin cinsiyetinin kariyer değerlerini farklılaştırmadığı ortaya konmuştur. Yine farklı biyolojik cinsiyete sahip fakat aynı beyin cinsiyetine sahip katılımcılarında kariyer değerleri açısından farklılaşmadığı ortaya konmuştur. Cinsiyetin kariyer değerlerine etkisinde beyin cinsiyetinin düzenleyici bir rolünün olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

EFFECT OF PRENATAL HORMONE EXPOSURE ON CAREER VALUES: 2D:4D RATIO PERSPECTIVE

Öz

The 2d:4d ratio is obtained by dividing the length of the index finger by the length of the ring finger in humans. This ratio is accepted as an indicator of prenatal hormone exposure. A low 2d:4d ratio is an indicator of high testosterone exposure and is more common in men. A high 2d:4d ratio indicates high estrogen exposure, but this ratio is higher in women. The 2d:4d ratio is thought to be a valuable tool in understanding the psychological and biological characteristics of individuals. This study examines the relationship between the 2d:4d finger length ratio and the career values of individuals, as well as other demographic characteristics that affect career values. The survey method was used in the study conducted on 536 associate degree students, and the students' finger lengths were measured with a ruler and 2d:4d ratios were obtained. According to the study results, significant relationships were found between gender and career values sub-dimensions. In addition, the study examined whether the participants with the same biological sex but different brain sex differed in career values and revealed that different brain sex did not differentiate career values. Again, it was revealed that the participants with different biological sex but the same brain sex did not differentiate in terms of career values. It was determined that brain sex did not have a moderating role in the effect of gender on career values.
