Santral sinir sistemi enfeksiyonları sırasında gelişen akut semptomatik nöbetlerin değerlendirilmesi

Öz

AMAÇ: Santral sinir sistemi enfeksiyonları sırasında akut semptomatik nöbet geçiren hastaları değerlendirmektir. YÖNTEMLER: Konvülziyon nedeniyle acil servise başvuran ve santral sinir sistemi enfeksiyonu saptanan ya da tanımlanmış santral sinir sistemi enfeksiyonu nedeniyle yatışı sırasında konvülziyon geçiren hastalar incelendi. Hastaların yaş, cinsiyet, nöbet tipi, EEG ve kraniyal görüntüleme bulguları, antiepileptik tedavi kullanılma süresi ve epilepsi gelişme oranı değerlendirildi. BULGULAR: Santral sinir sistemi enfeksiyonu sırasında akut semptomatik nöbet geçiren 24 hasta incelendi. Hastalarda en sık jeneralize tonik klonik nöbet görüldü. Hastaların altısında (%25) epilepsi gelişti. SONUÇ: Santral sinir sistemi enfeksiyonu sırasında akut semptomatik nöbet geçiren hastalarda başlanan antiepileptik tedavi nöbet tekrarı yoksa altta yatan hastalık düzeldikten sonra kesilmelidir.

Evaluation of the acute symptomatic seizures during central nervous system infections

Öz

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate patients who had acute symptomatic seizures during an infection of the central nervous system.METHODS: We included patients in which a central nervous system infection was diagnosed after an admission to the emergency department because of convulsions and patients who developed convulsions during their hospital stay for a central nervous system infection. In these patients, we collected data about age, gender, seizure type, EEG findings, brain imaging findings, the duration of anti-epileptic drug use and examined the incidence of epilepsy.RESULTS: A total of 24 patients were included. The most frequently seizure type was generalized tonic clonic seizures. Six of these patients (25%) developed epilepsy.CONCLUSION: In patients with acute symptomatic seizures during central nervous system infections, anti-epileptic drug treatment must be stopped without recurrence of seizures when the underlying disease recovers.
