BİST GIDA ENDEKSİ İŞLETMELERİNİN SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİRLİK FAALİYETLERİNİN ANALİZİ

Öz

İnsan sağlığını ve çevreyi doğrudan etkileyen sektörlerin başında gelen gıda sektörü toplumsal hayatın sürdürülebilirliği açısından kritik öneme sahiptir. Sektörde faaliyet gösteren işletmelerin çevresel ve sosyal etkileri, toplum için en az ekonomik başarıları kadar değerlidir. İşletmelerin sürdürülebilirlik uygulamalarının uluslararası standartlara uygun olarak gerçekleştirilmesi ve şeffaf bir şekilde raporlanması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, BİST Gıda Endeksinde yer alan ve sürdürülebilirlik raporları hazırlayan işletmelerin raporlarını, Küresel Raporlama Girişimi (GRI) ilkeleri çerçevesinde analiz etmektir. Çalışmada nitel veri analizi yöntemlerinden içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Genel olarak işletmelerin sürdürülebilirlik bilincine sahip oldukları ve GRI ilkelerine uygun raporlama yaptıkları tespit edilmiştir. Ekonomik, çevresel ve sosyal sürdürülebilirlik unsurlarının incelendiği çalışmada, Anadolu Efes’in %87 gerçekleştirme oranıyla en yüksek uyumu sağladığı, Tat Gıda’nın ise %70 ile en düşük uyum oranına sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada ayrıca işletme raporlarında eksik görülen temel unsurlar ayrıntısıyla ortaya konulmuştur. Sektör genelinde sürdürülebilirlik raporlaması yapan işletme sayısının artması ve raporlama altyapısının geliştirilerek eksik unsurların giderilmesi gerektiği düşünülmektedir.

AN ANALYSIS OF SUSTAINABILITY ACTIVITIES OF BIST FOOD INDEX COMPANIES

Öz

The food sector, which is one of the sectors that directly affect human health and the environment, is critical for the sustainability of social life. The environmental and social impacts of businesses operating in the sector are as valuable to society as their economic success. Sustainability practices of businesses need to be realized in accordance with international standards and reported transparently. The aim of this study is to analyze the reports of enterprises that are included in the BIST Food Index and prepare sustainability reports within the framework of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) principles. Content analysis, one of the qualitative data analysis methods, was used in the study. In general, it was determined that the enterprises have sustainability awareness and report in accordance with GRI principles. In the study, which examined economic, environmental, and social sustainability elements, it was determined that Anadolu Efes achieved the highest compliance rate with an 87% realization rate, while Tat Gıda had the lowest compliance rate with 70%. The study also detailed the main elements that were found to be missing in the business reports. It is thought that the number of enterprises reporting on sustainability across the sector should increase and the missing elements should be eliminated by improving the reporting infrastructure.
