The
purpose of this research is private capital deposit banks with the
participation banks in Turkey investigate the effectiveness in terms of
profitability ratios and asset quality of banks. Data is subject to the Banks
Association of Turkey (TBB) and the Participation Banks Association of Turkey
(TKBB) registered in the data set were obtained from 3 participation bank and 9
private capital deposit banks. The data were evaluated with Data Envelopment
Analysis (DEA), Malmquist total factor productivity index and super efficiency
analysis techniques. The results of the efficiency analysis and productivity
index are as follows: none of the participation banks has achieved sufficient
efficiency according to the Malmquist index on average value basis. On the
other hand, only one bank from private capital deposit banks was effective
according to the index value. According to the BCC-I activity results of the
examined banks, the number of years in which the participation banks included
in the analysis reached the activity score in the examined years is more than
the number of years in which they did not reach the activity score. It has been
observed that the majority of private deposit banks have not achieved
sufficient efficiency score in the examined years.
