Introduction: In our country, managing the responsibility of the child falling on the mother due to the cultural approach and managing the business life can cause the woman to experience depression. Aim: This study was conducted to determine the depression status of pregnant women who work and do not work. Material and Method: The universe of the study was composed of pregnant women affiliated with Municipalities, Population Directorates, revenue office and Karataş Family Medicine between January and June 2015. Sample selection was not made and it was aimed to reach the entire universe. The study was conducted with 45 pregnant and working women and 55 non-working women who accepted to participate the study. The data were collected by socio-demographic questionnaire form and Beck Depression Scale. Descriptive statistics were calculated and Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used for independent groups. Results: Beck Depression mean score of working pregnant women was found as 18.31 ± 10.42 and 10.27 ± 7.48 for non-working women. A statistically significant correlation was found between the study status and Beck Depression Inventory mean scores (p = 0.001). Conclusion and Suggestions: It was determined that the depression scores of working pregnant women were higher than those of non-working pregnant women and all pregnant women had mild depression. Taking necessary precautions for pregnancy health and progress is very important in terms of both women's health and newborn health.
