Introduction: Pharmaceutical applications require high attention and knowledge for patient safety. It is the responsibility of nurses to have basic information about drugs and to apply drug treatment in drug applications. Aim: In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the mathematic skills of student nurses and the performance of drug dose calculation. Materials and Methods: The population of the study consisted of 2nd, 3rd, 4th grade students and newly graduated nursing students studying at a university (n=562). An online survey method was used. A structured questionnaire, which was prepared by the researchers by taking expert opinions, was used in data collection. Data were collected between December 2020 and June 2021. A package statistics program was used to evaluate the data. Results: The scores of the students who are considered to have sufficient mathematical skills (23.8%) in the drug dose calculation skill test were found to be significantly higher than the students who are not considered to have sufficient mathematical skills (6.58%). Students who found the mathematics course difficult (6.05%) got a significantly lower score on the drug dose calculation skill test than students who found this course partially difficult (25.4%). Conclusion and Suggestion: The scores the students got from the drug dose calculation skill test; showed a significant difference in terms of math skills. In future studies, it is thought that in parallel with the development of mathematical skills, forming training groups for drug dose calculations and examining drug dose calculation performance after training will allow valuable data to be obtained.
