Fen Lisesi Öğrencilerinin Farklı Tür Problem Kurma Görevlerindeki Başarı Düzeylerinin ve Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi

Bu çalışmanın amacı, fen lisesi öğrencilerinin farklı tür problem kurma görevlerindeki başarı düzeylerinin ve görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Çalışma grubunu bir fen lisesindeki 10.sınıf öğrencisi dokuz öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan ‘durum çalışması’ deseni kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak öğrencilerin problem kurma etkinliklerindeki çalışmaları kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca çalışmanın sonunda yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Problem kurma etkinliklerinin tasarımında kavrama, aktarma, düzenleme ve seçme kategorilerinin yer aldığı Christou ve arkadaşlarına (2005) ait kuramsal çerçeveden yararlanılmıştır. Katılımcıların çalışmaları “Problem Kurma Beceri Testi Puanlama Cetveli” ile analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre öğrencilerin, problem kurarken başarılı olduğu ancak dil bilgisi ve ifade açısından eksikliklerinin bulunduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca öğrencilerin problemleri daha önceki deneyimlerinden yola çıkarak kurdukları ve genellikle orijinal problem kurmadıkları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin problem kurarken en zorlandıkları kategori, düzenleme görevi olmuştur ancak bu durum, problem kurma görevleri arasında hiyerarşi olduğunu göstermemektedir. Öğrencilerin görüşleri incelendiğinde problem kurmanın öğrencilerin bakış açısını değiştirmek, kendini ifade etmek, yaratıcılığını göstermek, eğlenceli vakit geçirmek gibi durumlarda katkı sağladığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca grup çalışmasının iletişim ve karşısındaki insanın fikirlerini anlamada olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür.

This study aims to investigate the levels of success and opinions of science high school students with high academic achievement in different types of problem-posing. The study group consisted of nine 10th-grade students from a science high school. A case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The students’ work in solving problems served as a data collection tool. In addition, a semi-structured interview was conducted at the end of the study. In designing the problem-posing activities, the theoretical framework of Christou et al. (2005) was used, which includes the categories of comprehending, translating, organizing, and selecting. The participants’ work was analyzed using the Problem Posing Skill Test Scoring Chart. According to the study results, the students successfully posed problems but had deficits in grammar and expression. Moreover, since the students posed the tasks based on their previous experiences, they were not evaluated as the original. The category in which students had the most difficulty posing problems was the organization task, but we cannot speak of a hierarchy here. It was found that posing problems helped students change their perspectives, express themselves, show their creativity, and have fun. In addition, group work had a positive effect on communication and understanding of each other’s ideas.
