The Concept of Tone in Flute Education and the Synesthetic Connection of Colors

Öz

This study aims to investigate the effects of the phenomenon of synesthesia in flute education. By examining the relationship between synesthesia and the concept of tone in flute training, it seeks to reveal the potential effects of sensory perception on musical performance. Literature reviews conducted for this purpose have explored physical, psychological and artistic research and the findings suggest that the most common form of synesthesia is the combination of sound and color. Within this theoretical framework, it is hypothesized that synesthetic perception can enhance tone awareness in flute performance, thereby enriching the students’ musical expressive abilities. The study employs qualitative research methods, specifically grounded theory design and data were analyzed in detail through descriptive analysis. This approach has proven effective in understanding the impact of synesthesia on flute students’ tone perception and overall musical performance. The results highlight the positive contributions of synesthesia to the integration of musical senses and demonstrate how it can be more effectively utilized in music education.

Flüt Eğitiminde Ton Kavramı ve Renklerin Sinestetik Bağlantısı

Öz

Bu çalışma, flüt eğitiminde sinestezi fenomeninin etkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Sinestezi ile flüt eğitimindeki ton kavramının arasındaki ilişkiyi inceleyerek, duyusal algıların müzikal performansa olabilecek etkilerini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu amaçla yapılan literatür çalışmalarında fiziksel, psikolojik ve sanatsal araştırmalar incelenmiş, elde edilen bulgulara göre sinestezinin en yaygın şeklinin ses-renk kombinasyonu olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu teorik çerçevede, sinestezik algının flüt performansındaki ton farkındalığını artırabileceği ve böylece öğrencilerin müzikal ifade güçlerini zenginleştirebileceği öngörülmüştür. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden temellendirilmiş kuram deseni çalışılmış ve betimsel analiz yoluyla veriler detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Bu yöntem sinestezinin flüt öğrencilerinin ton algısı ve genel müzikal performansları üzerindeki etkilerini anlamada etkili bir araç olarak kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, sinestezinin müzikal duyuların bütünlüğü üzerindeki olumlu katkılarını ve eğitimde nasıl daha etkin bir biçimde kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir.
