AN EVALUATION OF ONLINE KURDISH TEACHING PLATFORMS

Abstract

In recent years, the surge of interest in Kurdish education has led to remarkable changes in educational methods and platforms in this field. In addition to traditional teaching materials and face-to-face teaching methods, Kurdish education is now delivered through various widely accessible platforms and multimedia resources with the advancement of digital technologies. This shift aims to improve the sensitivity, accessibility and effectiveness of language education processes. This study comprehensively analyses four different websites dedicated to Kurdish language education and systematically evaluates the pedagogically effective aspects of language teaching on each platform. The results of the revolution suggest that the so-called digital platforms can be effectively and successfully adapted for Kurdish education in a specific way. However, the lack of organisation within a systematic curriculum in terms of content has proved to be a significant shortcoming, leading to an imbalance (in terms of listening, speaking, reading and writing) between the four basic language skills. This imbalance exacerbates the challenges users face during language learning and hinders their progress in achieving their educational goals. Furthermore, the limited number of languages used for language learning on certain platforms hinders the ability to reach the target audience and limits international access. Therefore, in order to fully utilise the opportunities that digital platforms offer for Kurdish education, it is crucial to develop pedagogical approaches appropriately, structure them well and build comprehensive teams. This approach will effectively address the different needs of both Kurdish teachers and learners. In this manner, both Kurdish students will be capable of addressing various needs and assisting in the continuation and widespread presence of the language in the digital environment.
