Investigation of Personal Performances of Agricultural Extension Staffs Employed in Aydın Province
Abstract
The agricultural extension services which underlined rural development are performed by
governmental organization in Turkey. When their services were not used in optimum level within the
public sector, work potential and performance of the extension service human and physical resources
has been reduced. One of the most important topics which become debatable and effecting of public
extension services is qualification and quantity of the employees. In this study, it has focused on this
issue and it is trying to evaluate personal performance of the agricultural extension system within the
framework of Development Project of Agricultural Extension (TARGEL) in Food Agriculture and
Livestock Ministry. With this objective, a survey was carried out with 44 agricultural extension staffs
worked in 7 districts in Aydın province. Than survey data were prepared for statistical analyses using
relative conversion process. The research results showed that agricultural extension staffs had 4.45%
the least, 25.00% subnormal and 41.10% normal performance level. The results indicate that if
governmental extension services desired to be performed effectively, the motivation of the staffs
should be increased. The reward system should be implicated as a tool for the success of agricultural
extension staffs.
