The Research of Open-Green Areas in Kayseri and Landscape Architecture Evaluation

This research has been carried out to determine the current situation of the open- green areas within Kayseri city center and to determine their current and future adequacy.
The study takes place within the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality city area limits. The study provides information on the definition, function, classification and standards of open- green areas. The natural and cultural characteristics which affect the open- green areas within the Kayseri city limits have been inspected. The study focuses on the 11 groups of open- green areas comprised within the two main counties of the city.
The study shows that the open- green areas are not distributed homogenously throughout the city and that the amounts of open and green area per capita as well as equipment are inadequate. The open-green areas within the city should be planned systematically and necessary precaution should be exercised for quantitative and qualitative adequacy.
