Quality Assessment and Selection of Walnut Types Resistant to 2014 Spring Frost in Konya Province

This study was conducted around Konya Province having rich walnut population between 2014 and 2015 years. In the study fruit samples were collected from 17 walnut types to resistant in 2014 year spring frosts which had been talked into consideration tree and fruit characteristics. Walnut types taking fruit samples were separately subjected to weighed ranging from the point of view of shelled and kernel walnut. As result of the evaluation in all 5 walnut types are selected that 1 of them (KONYA3) for both shelled and kernel walnut, 1 of them (KONYA12) for only shelled walnut and 3 of them (KONYA2, KONYA5 ve KONYA11) for only kernel walnut. In selected types; fruit weights changed between 9.45-12.49 g, kernel weights changed between 4.43-5.79 g, kernel rations changed between %37.10-50.36 and shell thicknesses changed between 1.96-2.46 mm. In addition, flowering habits of these types had been examined, in consequence, 5 types have been determined as protandrous.
