Pathotypes of The Causal Agent of Potato Wart Dısease (Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilb.) Perc.) and its Distribution in The World and in Turkey

Synchytrium endobioticum the causal agent of the disease known as potato wart or potato cancer is a soil borne, obligate fungus of which potato is the only host of culture plants. The disease completely prevents potato production under severe disease pressure by inhibiting tuber formation. S. endobioticum is capable of forming a lot of pathotypes. There are 37 known pathotypes of it described in Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine and Check Republic up to now. In every country, the pathotypes of the disease have been coded differently. Sometimes, the same numerical code or letter code has been used for various pathotypes. Lack of an internationally approved differential set prevents comparing newly described pathotypes well. These results create confusion in identification of the pathotypes. This causes incorrect regulation in the description of new pathotypes. In order to solve this problem, formation of a standard differential set and a new standard code is needed. This disease was determined in 7 provinces of Turkey and pathotypes 1, 6 ve Nev 38 were found in these areas.

Patates Siğil Hastalığı Etmeni (Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilb.) Perc.)’un, Patotipleri, Dünya ve Türkiye’deki Durumu

Öz

Patates siğili ya da kanseri olarak bilinen hastalığın etmeni Synchytrium endobioticum, kültür bitkisi olarak tek konukçusu patates olan, toprak kökenli obligat-parazit bir fungustur. Hastalık ciddi enfeksiyonlarda yumru oluşumunu engellemek suretiyle patates üretimini tamamen önlemektedir. S. endobioticum çok sayıda patotip oluşturma yeteneğinde bir fungustur. Günümüze kadar dünyada Hollanda, Almanya, Ukrayna ve Çek Cumhuriyeti’nde tanımlanmış 37 patotipi bilinmektedir. Hastalığın her bir ülkede yeni patotiplerin kodlanması ayrı ayrı oluşturulmuştur. Bazen aynı sayı (numerical kod) veya harf kodu farklı patotipler için kullanılmıştır. Uluslar arası kabul edilen bir ayırıcı çeşit setinin olmayışı, tanımlanan patotiplerin iyi bir mukayesesini engellemektedir. Tüm bu sonuçlar patotiplerin teşhisinde karışıklık oluşturmaktadır. Bu nedenle bu durum patotiplerin tanımı ile ilgili hatalı düzenlemelere yol açmaktadır. Bu sorunların çözümü için şu anda belirlenen patotiplerin tanımında yeni bir standart kodun kullanımı ve ortak bir ayırıcı çeşit setinin oluşturulması gerekmektedir. Bu hastalık Türkiye’ de 7 ilde saptanmış olup bu bölgelerde 1, 6 ve Nev 38 ırkları bulunmuştur.
