MODERN ASTRONOMİNİN İSPANYA’YA GİRİŞİ: NOVATORES

Öz

Günümüzde modern bilim adı verilen tarihsel gerçeklik Bilimsel Devrimin sonucu olarak görülmektedir. Kapalı dünyadan sonsuz evrene geçiş olarak nitelenen bu devrimin on altıncı ve on yedinci yüzyıldaki bir takım gelişmelerle tüm Avrupa’ya yayıldığı kabul edilmektedir. Özellikle, İngiltere, Almanya, Fransa, İtalya gibi ülkelerin katkıları ön plana çıksa da, İspanya gibi ülkelerin modern bilimin ortaya çıkmasında ve gelişmesindeki etkileri çoğu zaman görmezden gelinmiştir. On ikinci yüzyıldaki büyük bir çeviri dalgasının neden olduğu bilgi patlamasının baskısı altında ortaya çıktığı düşünülen Ortaçağ’daki ilk üniversitelerin birkaçına ev sahipliği yapan bir kültürün modern bilime etkisi en azından değerlendirilmeyi hak etmektedir. Bu çalışmamızda on altı ve on yedinci yüzyılda astronomi ile uğraşan bir dizi İspanyol bilim insanının astronomi faaliyetinin ve kozmolojik fikirlerinin ilgili yönleri tanıtılacaktır. Özellikle novatores (yenilik taraftarları) olarak adlandırılan bir grup İspanyol bilim insanının Avrupa’da geliştirilen teknik ve yöntemleri özümsedikleri, geliştirme tartışmalarına katıldıkları gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır.

Modern Astronomy in Spain: Novatores

Öz

Today, the historical reality called modern science is seen as the result of the Scientific Revolution. It is accepted that this revolution, which is described as the transition from the closed world to the infinite universe, spread all over Europe with some developments in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In particular, although the contributions of countries such as England, Germany, France and Italy came to the fore, the effects of countries such as Spain in the emergence and development of modern science were often ignored. The impact of a culture on modern science that is host to some of the first universities in the Middle Ages, which is thought to have emerged under the pressure of the information explosion caused by a great wave of translation in the twelfth century, deserves at least consideration. In this study, the relevant aspects of the astronomical activities and cosmological ideas of a number of Spanish scientists dealing with astronomy in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries will be introduced. In particular, it will be tried to show that a group of Spanish scientists called novatores (innovation proponents) assimilated the techniques and methods developed in Europe and participated in development discussions.
