Öz

Derin ve köklü bir medeniyet tarihine sahip olan Hindistan'ın uzayla olan ilişkisi antik döneme kadar uzanmaktadır. Soğuk Savaş Dönemi ile ortaya çıkan uzay rekabeti ise dünya çapında modern anlamda uzaya olan ilgiyi arttırmıştır. Hindistan’ın uzay macerası da bu ilginin bir tezahürü olarak İngilizler'den bağımsızlığını henüz aldığı kuruluş döneminin erken evreleri olarak adlandırılabilecek bir dönemde Jawaharlal Nehru, Vikram Sarabhai ve Homi Bhabha gibi Hindistan'ın önde gelen figürlerinin önderliğinde kısıtlı bir bütçeyle başlatılmıştır. Dönemin koşulları düşünüldüğünde ekonomik olarak darboğazdaki ülkenin yöneticilerinin uzay alanında dünya devleriyle bir yarışa girme vizyonu ortaya koyarak bunu uzun dönemde başarıya dönüştürmesi dikkat çekicidir. Hindistan uzay programı kapsamında tamamlanan projeler ve ulaşılan uzay teknolojisi kapasitesi, programın mevcut bütçesi göz önüne alınarak diğer uzay programlarıyla kıyaslandığında farklı bir örnek teşkil etmektedir. Dünyanın sayılı uzay teknolojilerinden birine sahip olan Hindistan’ın uzay yolculuğunun tarihî seyrinin ele alındığı bu çalışmada, Hindistan'ın uzay programının kuruluş aşaması politik ve tarihî boyutları ile ele alınarak açıklanmıştır.

Establishment Period Policies and Brief History of Indian Space Program

Öz

Having a deep and rooted history of civilization, India's relationship with space dates back to the ancient time. The space competition that emerged with the Cold War Era has increased the interest in space in the modern sense worldwide. As a manifestation of this interest, India's space adventure was started/launced on a limited budget under the leadership of prominent figures of India such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Vikram Sarabhai and Homi Bhabha at a time that can be called the early stages of its establishment period when India had just gained its independence from the British. Considering the conditions of the period, it is noteworthy that the rulers of country which has economically bottleneck put forward the vision of getting into competition with the world giants in the space field and turning it into a success in the long run. The projects which was completed and the space technology capacity which was achieved within the scope of Indian space program present a different example compared to other space programs, taking into account the current budget of the program. In this study, the historical course of space travel of India which has one of the world's few space technologies is discussed and the establishment stage of India's space program is explained by considering its political and historical dimensions.
