Being the Author of Your Own Story: A Brief Look to the Existentialistic Approach’s Reflections at Institutions and Leadership

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 6 Sayı: Global Academic Perspective in Social Sciences, 1 - 25, 28.10.2025

Öz

Existentialistic approach is related to all disciplines of humanities as a philosophical approach which is based on “being human”. Sharing knowledge about certain concepts and approaches in a way that could reach readers from various disciplines is important to provide interdisciplinary awareness. Hence, the examination of the knowledge and applications regarding existentialistic approach via related literature is the aim of this study. As a method that fits with this aim the traditional review method was used. As highlighted by Geçtan, existentialistic approach is a product of the social and cultural changes in the period in which the approach has emerged. This approach’s emphasis for ‘personal responsibility’ and ‘continuing to write your own story’ are among its basic propositions. In the therapeutic applications of this approach that is a combination of existentialistic philosophy and phenomenological stance, certain questions, as ‘what can you do to prevent future regrets’ are important. Therefore, the existentialistic philosophy emphasize the importance of ‘being authentic’ ‘instead of what others will say’ and ‘freedom of choice’. Additionally, ‘existentialistic organizational leadership’ applications that highlights the need for ‘meaning at work’, ‘existential vacuum’, ‘organizational cessation’ concepts is another important application area. As highlighted by Frankl ‘finding meaning is a vitally important need for everybody’.

Kendi Hikâyenin Yazarı Olmak: Varoluşçu Yaklaşımın İşletmelerde ve Liderlikteki Yansımalarına Kısa Bir Bakış

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 6 Sayı: Global Academic Perspective in Social Sciences, 1 - 25, 28.10.2025
