A Conceptual Review on Malingering

Yıl 2024, Cilt: 5 Sayı: 2, 218 - 242, 30.06.2024

Öz

Malingering can be defined as an attempt by individuals to pretend to be ill when they are not, or to exaggerate the symptoms of an existing illness in order to gain some benefits. In the international literature, the general outlines and framework of malingering have been put forward and at the same time, this concept has been the subject of a great deal of research. However, there is no Turkish article in the national literature that evaluates the concept of malingering and compiles it in general terms. The aim of this study is to make a conceptual evaluation of the concept of malingering. In other words, this article provides a framework to guide researchers who are curious about the concept of malingering.
