Understanding and interpreting the societal and religious impacts of past epidemics is one of the crucial issues that need to be carefully considered when looking at it from a historical perspective. Humanity has viewed some epidemic diseases it has encountered since ancient times as supernatural. For this reason, one of the main reasons for epidemics that cause the death of millions of people has been interpreted as man’s failure to accept God’s command and command. The development of humanity and the increasing influence of religion and medicine on each other have paved the way for the causes of epidemics to be evaluated with a health and biological reality rather than a wrath of God. Thus, humanity searches for the basic dynamics of all the epidemics it encounters in religious media as well as scientific medicine today, as it did yesterday. The study will discuss the social and religious effects of endemic, epidemic and pandemic epidemics that have emerged from the Ancient Age to the present day, in the context of functional paradigm. The study also aims to clarify the effects of diseases on religious worship, mental and spiritual health through psycho-social analysis by addressing the religious attributions towards the recently emerged Covid-19 pandemic.
