Religious music is a form performed for various occasions during worship and dhikr in mosques and dervish lodges, in which many religious motifs own. The religious form of music in each nation shows that nation's own spirit, common values, and understanding of art and sense of beauty. Religious music, therefore, has also acquired a unique nationality. Ta’rif form, like some other forms of religious music, is an example of Turkish nationality. Since the fourteenth century, although it has been known that Ta’rîf was recited in mosques and dervish lodges with improvisation, there is no clear information that it was performed with a special composition. On the other hand, we know when Ta’rîf was started to perform, it is not certain what exactly time it was broken the tradition of performing it. With the desire to revive it based on all these, the work describing the Prophet Muhammad’s characteristics and physical appearances has been formed by us. Our aim to make this composition is to present Ta’rîf, one of the forms of Turkish religious music, which was used to perform in the past but has been forgotten in the process in our religious culture. It is to ensure that our religious officials like imams and muezzins perform before the Mawlid ceremonies, especially in oil lamp nights and to serve the continuity of this culture. As a result of this work, we would like to remember some forgotton Turkish religious music tradition.
