Ölçme ve Değerlendirmenin Eğlenceli Hali “Plickers”: Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmen Adaylarının Deneyimi

Öz

“Dijital Çağ” olarak adlandırılan 21. yüzyılda meydana gelen bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmeler hız kazanmış ve toplumsal yaşamın her alanını etkilediği gibi eğitim alanına da birtakım yansımaları olmuştur. Bu yansımalar Türkiye’de 2011 yılında başlayan FATİH Projesi ile kendisini göstermiş, bu kapsamda ilk, orta ve ortaöğretim kurumlarına internet altyapısı ile sınıflara akıllı tahtalar entegre edilmiştir. Bunlarla birlikte e-içerik platfomu olan Eğitim Bilişim Ağı (EBA) ile de eğitimde fırsat eşitliği oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. 2020 yılına gelindiğinde ise tüm dünyayı etkisi altına alan COVID-19 pandemisi nedeniyle, özellikle altyapısı olan ülkelerde, uzaktan eğitim gerçekleştirilmeye başlanmıştır. Bu süreçte ise öğretmenler uzaktan eğitimde derslerini interaktif ve daha ilgi çekici hale getirmek için web 2.0 araçlarını kullanmaya çalışmışlardır. Merkezi kurumlarda öğretmenlerin teknoloji kullanımını desteklemek için çeşitli hizmet içi eğitimler planlamış ve uygulamaya koymuşlardır. 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında ise uzaktan eğitim sona ererek yüz yüze eğitime tekrar geçilmiştir. Eğitimin tüm paydaşlarıyla birlikte deneyimlenen, teknoloji tabanlı ilerleyen, iki yılın ardından sınıflarda teknolojiden yoksun bir öğrenme-öğretme sürecine tekrar dönülmesinin kabul edilebilir olmadığı söylenebilir. Bu nedenle yüz yüze eğitimde de çeşitli web 2.0 araçlarından etkin şekilde yararlanılması öğrencilerin teknolojiyi bir öğretim aracı olarak deneyimlemesi ve içselleştirmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu kapsamda araştırmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının ortaokul öğrencileriyle deneyimledikleri Plickers uygulamasına ilişkin düşüncelerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda veri kaynağı olarak 17 öğretmen adayının Sosyal Bilgilerde Bilişim Teknolojileri dersinde hazırladıkları ürün dosyasında yer alan uygulama deneyimlerini paylaştıkları yansıtıcı ödevler kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler gözden geçirme, detaylı inceleme ve yorumlama basamaklarından oluşan doküman analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda Plickers’ın hazırlık ve uygulama süreçlerinin kolay olarak deneyimlendiği ve uygulamanın avantajlarının dezavantajlarından fazla olduğu belirlenmiştir.

“Plickers”, The Fun State of Assessment and Evaluation: The Experiences of Social Studies Pre-Service Teachers

Abstract

In the 21st century, which is called the "Digital Age", scientific developments have gained even more speed. Scientific developments, on the other hand, have accelerated technological developments. Thus, technology has begun to affect every aspect of social life. One of the affected areas is education. The first systematic technologicalization movement in the field of education in Turkey started in 2011 with the FATIH Project. Within the scope of the project, internet infrastructure was integrated into primary, secondary, and secondary education institutions and smart boards were integrated into classrooms. Along with these, the Education Information Network (EBA), which is an e-content platform, was also created. Thanks to this infrastructure, Turkey has been least affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is not enough just to have the infrastructure for distance education experienced for the first time. Accordingly, teachers tried to use web 2.0 tools to make their lessons interactive and more interesting in distance education. In this process, the Ministry of National Education has planned and implemented various in-service trainings to support teachers' use of technology. In the 2021-2022 academic year, distance education has ended in Turkey as well as the world, and face-to-face education has been started. However, for teachers, returning to face-to-face education should not mean completely moving away from technology. Therefore, effective use of various web 2.0 tools in face-to-face education is important for students to experience technology as a teaching tool. In this context, the research aims to reveal the thoughts of social studies teacher candidates about the Plickers application that they experienced with secondary school students. Document analysis was used in the research. In this context, reflective assignments in which 17 pre-service teachers shared their practical experiences in the product file they prepared in the Informatics Technologies in Social Studies course was used as a data source. The obtained data were analyzed by Corbin and Strauss's document analysis consisting of review, detailed examination, and interpretation steps. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the preparation and application processes of Plickers are easily experienced and the advantages of the application are more than the disadvantages.
