This study proposes a conceptual model examining the effects of economic and psychological uncertainty on individuals’ emotional states and consumption behavior. The model is structured around the sequence: uncertainty → emotional disturbance → doom spending, assuming that social media exposure amplifies this relationship while financial literacy mitigates it. Particularly in Turkey, irrational consumer spending behaviors observed during high-inflation periods support the model’s practical relevance. The study offers an interdisciplinary contribution by integrating perspectives from consumer psychology, behavioral economics, and digital media. It also provides a theoretical basis for future empirical research on how social media content and financial literacy levels influence doom spending behavior.
