Bu çalışma, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’in eserlerinde kadın figürlerinin temsiline odaklanmaktadır. Sanatçının kadınları resmederken toplumsal normları sorgulayan ve bireysel kimliklerini ön plana çıkaran yaklaşımı, 19. yüzyıl Paris’inin sosyal dokusu bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Lautrec’in eserlerinde kadın figürleri aracılığıyla toplumsal sınıf farklılıklarını, cinsiyet temsillerini ve dönemin modernleşme sürecini nasıl yansıttığını incelemektir. Örneklem olarak, sanatçının Montmartre'deki kabareler, dans salonları ve genelevlerden ilham alarak oluşturduğu litografi ve tablolar seçilmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemiyle gerçekleştirilen çalışmada, Lautrec’in eserleri ikonografik ve biçimsel analiz teknikleriyle değerlendirilmiştir. Özellikle Jane Avril Looking at a Proof ve Rue des Moulins gibi eserlerde, kadın figürlerinin gündelik yaşamın doğal bir parçası olarak tasvir edildiği gözlemlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Lautrec’in eserleri, kadın figürlerini idealize etmeden, onların insani yönlerini görünür kılmaktadır.

This study focuses on the representation of female figures in the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The artist’s approach, which questions social norms and highlights the individual identities of women, is addressed within the context of the social fabric of 19th-century Paris. The aim of the study is to examine how Lautrec reflects social class differences, gender representations, and the modernization process of the era through female figures in his works. As a sample, the artist’s lithographs and paintings inspired by the cabarets, dance halls, and brothels in Montmartre were selected. Conducted using a qualitative research method, Lautrec’s works were evaluated through iconographic and formal analysis techniques. It was observed, especially in works such as Jane Avril Looking at a Proof and Rue des Moulins, that female figures are depicted as a natural part of daily life. Consequently, Lautrec’s works make the human aspects of female figures visible without idealizing them. This approach reflects both the artist’s observational skills and his critical perspective on the social reality of the period. The study reveals that the female figures in Lautrec’s art offer a perspective that expands the aesthetic and thematic boundaries of modernism.
