VR TECHNOLOGY ENRICHED CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Öz

This study examines the integration of virtual reality (VR) technology into children’s books within a theoretical, historical, and pedagogical framework. It first explores the technical infrastructure of VR, its historical evolution, the hardware used, market trends, and the principles of interaction design. The study then evaluates the effects of VR-enhanced children’s books on learning processes across multiple dimensions such as language development, reading motivation, social and emotional learning, story comprehension, and problem-solving, drawing on recent empirical research findings. The results indicate that VR-based children’s books, through multisensory interaction and immersive storytelling, deepen children’s learning experiences, enhance retention, and make learning more engaging. As for the methodology, this study was conducted using a qualitative research approach, based on document analysis and literature review methods. Academic articles, theses, statistical reports, and technical documents published by technology companies were examined within the scope of the research. The collected data were categorized and interpreted through thematic content analysis, focusing on the effects of virtual reality (VR) on education, language development, and children’s literature. In addition, the article discusses the potential drawbacks of VR, including physical and cognitive effects, emotional and social risks, .and the ontological and developmental implications of the resulting reality discourse. Within this context, the importance of age-appropriate content design, time limitations, ethical oversight, and pedagogical guidance is emphasized. In conclusion, the study reveals that VR-supported children’s books.
