A Half-Century-Old Educational Institution: Edirne Education Institute

Öz

The main purpose of this research is to examine the modern teacher training system in our country within the historical development process and to make an assessment of the point that the teacher training system has reached. One of the ways to make this assessment correctly is to examine the schools that train teachers. Education Institutes are teacher training schools that were established for the purpose of training teachers and that form the basis of today's education faculties. One of these schools that have met the teacher needs of our country since their establishment is Edirne Education Institute, which was established in 1969 and has trained many qualified teachers since its establishment. Edirne Education Institute, which is the eleventh education institute opened in our country, continues its education life as the Faculty of Education affiliated to Trakya University today. When Edirne Education Institute was first established, teachers were trained in two fields: Mathematics, Science and Natural Sciences. Today, teachers are trained in 13 different fields in the school that develops day by day. Night and day education was provided within the Institute until 1975, and correspondence education was also started to be provided at this date. The institute, which was called the Education Institute until 1978, was renamed the Higher Teachers’ School together with other institutes in Turkey and the three-year education period was increased to four years. The institute, which continued its education life as the Higher Teachers’ School for two years, was connected to Trakya University with the Decree Law No. 41 issued in the 1981-1982 academic year and was renamed “Edirne Higher Education School” and the education period was reduced to two years. In 1992, its name was changed again to the Faculty of Education and the education period was increased to four years again. The change in the school was not limited to the name change only, but also the existing departments were closed and the classroom teaching department was opened instead. 936 students graduated from the institute between 1969-1982. 3928 students graduated from the school, which provided education as the Higher Teachers’ School between 1982-1992.

YARIM ASIRLIK BİR EĞİTİM KURUMU: EDİRNE EĞİTİM ENSTİTÜSÜ

Öz

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, ülkemizde modern öğretmen yetiştirme sistemini tarihi gelişim süreci içerisinde inceleyerek, öğretmen yetiştirme sisteminin geldiği nokta konusunda bir değerlendirme yapmaktır. Söz konusu değerlendirmenin doğru bir şekilde yapılabilmesinin yollarından bir tanesi öğretmen yetiştiren okulların incelenmesidir. Eğitim Enstitüleri öğretmen yetiştirmek amacıyla kurulan ve günümüzdeki eğitim fakültelerine temel oluşturan öğretmen okullarıdır. Kuruldukları tarihten beri ülkemizin öğretmen ihtiyacını karşılayan bu okullardan bir tanesi 1969 yılında kurulan ve kurulduğu tarihten itibaren birçok nitelikli öğretmen yetiştiren Edirne Eğitim Enstitüsü’dür. Ülkemizde açılan on birinci eğitim enstitüsü olan Edirne Eğitim Enstitüsü günümüzde Trakya Üniversitesi’ne bağlı Eğitim Fakültesi olarak eğitim hayatına devam etmektedir. Edirne Eğitim Enstitüsünde ilk kurulduğu zaman Matematik, Fen ve Tabiat bilgileri olmak üzere iki alanda öğretmen yetiştirilmekteydi. Her geçen gün gelişen okulda günümüzde 13 ayrı alanda öğretmen yetiştirilmektedir. 1975 yılına kadar Enstitü bünyesinde gece ve gündüz eğitimi verilmiş, bu tarihte mektupla öğretimde verilmeye başlanmıştır. 1978 yılına kadar Eğitim Enstitüsü olarak isimlendirilen enstitü bu tarihte Türkiye’deki diğer enstitüler ile birlikte Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu ismini almış ve üç yıl olan eğitim süresi dört yıla çıkarılmıştır. İki yıl boyunca Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu olarak eğitim hayatına devam eden enstitü, 1981-1982 öğretim yılında çıkarılan 41 sayılı kanun Hükmünde Kararname ile Trakya Üniversitesi’ne bağlanarak “Edirne Eğitim Yüksekokulu” adını almış, eğitim süreside iki yıla düşürülmüştür. 1992 yılında ise ismi Eğitim Fakültesi olarak tekrar değiştirilmiş ve eğitim süresi tekrar dört yıla çıkarılmıştır. Okuldaki değişiklik sadece isim değişikliği ile kalmamış aynı zamanda mevcut bölümler kapatılmış ve yerine sınıf öğretmenliği bölümü açılmıştır. 1969-1982 yılları arasında enstitüden 936 öğrenci mezun olmuştur. 1982-1992 yılları arasında Yüksek öğretmen okulu olarak eğitim veren okuldan ise 3928 öğrenci mezun olmuştur.
