Mathematics Education in Gifted Students: A Bibliometric Analysis
Öz
This study aims to analyze the studies on mathematics education for gifted students with a bibliometric approach. The data of the study consisted of 675 documents on mathematics education in gifted students that were searched in the Scopus database. The documents were analyzed within the framework of eighteen research questions using the Bibliometrix R-package program "Biblioshiny". The publications on mathematics education for gifted students were analyzed in terms of number of scientific publications, number of citations, journal-author-topic relationships, sources, authors, institutions, distribution according to responsible author countries, cited countries, keywords, strategic map of themes, conceptual map of key concepts, and collaboration network between authors. In the study, the main research themes in the field of mathematics education were identified, and conceptual connections were made to be revealed. As a result of the analysis, "University of Haifa" made the highest contribution to mathematics education for gifted students with 675 documents between 1980 and 2024. The most cited journals in the related fields are "ZDM- Mathematics Education, Educational Studies in Mathematics" and "Mathematical Thinking and Learning". The most prolific author was by far Leikin Roza. As a result, the importance of research on improving mathematics education in gifted students and the need to increase it have become evident. It is thought that this research will make great contributions to the development of mathematics education for gifted students.
