Use of Trauma-informed Approach in Studies on Women Subjected to Violence

Today, it is known that one out of every four women has been exposed to male violence at some point in their life. In organizations such as women's shelters, women's counseling centers, violence prevention and monitoring centers, protective and preventive support services are provided for women subjected to violence. Being subject to violence creates traumatic effects on women. Therefore, it is important that the services to be offered to women are presented sensitively within the framework of an approach that takes into account the traumatic effects of violence on women. In many studies published internationally, it has been observed that services for women who have been subjected to violence are examined within the framework of trauma informed approach. In our country, no study has been found on the approach based on trauma informed towards women who have been subjected to violence both in the relevant literature and in practice. In this study, the traumatic effects of violence on women are addressed, and the use of this approach in the services to be provided to women with an approach based on trauma informed is examined. Thus, it is aimed to provide information about the trauma informed approach to the practitioners providing services in this field and to contribute to the literature.

Travma Bilgisine Dayalı Yaklaşımın Şiddete Maruz Bırakılan Kadınlarla Çalışmalarda Kullanımı

Öz

Günümüzde, her dört kadından birinin, yaşamının bir döneminde erkek şiddetine maruz bırakıldığı bilinmektedir. Kadın sığınma evleri, kadın danışma merkezleri, şiddet önleme ve izleme merkezleri gibi kuruluşlarda ise şiddete maruz bırakılan kadınlara yönelik koruyucu ve önleyici destek hizmetleri sunulmaktadır. Şiddete maruz bırakılmak, kadınlar üzerinde travmatik etkiler oluşturmaktadır. Dolayısıyla kadınlara sunulacak hizmetlerin de şiddetin kadın üzerindeki travmatik etkilerini göz önünde bulunduran bir yaklaşım çerçevesinde hassasiyetle sunulması önem taşımaktadır. Uluslararası alanda yayımlanan pek çok çalışmada şiddete maruz bırakılan kadınlara yönelik hizmetlerin, travma bilgisine dayalı yaklaşım çerçevesinde incelendiği görülmüştür. Ülkemizde ise hem ilgili literatürde hem de uygulamada şiddete maruz bırakılan kadınlara yönelik travma bilgisine dayalı yaklaşıma ilişkin herhangi bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Bu çalışma ile şiddetin kadın üzerindeki travmatik etkilerine değinilmekte, travma bilgisine dayalı yaklaşım ile kadınlara sunulacak hizmetlerde bu yaklaşımın kullanımı konusu incelenmektedir. Böylece bu alanda hizmet sunan uygulayıcılara travma bilgisine dayalı yaklaşım hakkında bilgi vermek ve literatüre katkıda bulunmak amaçlanmıştır.
