This descriptive study was conducted to examine the sensitive caregivingskills of caregivers working with infants aged 0-1 age years under protection, is a descriptive study. The study group of this research, in which the entire universe was reached, consisted of 50 caregivers who voluntarily participated in the study and were responsible for the care of 0-1 year old under protection and care at the Directorate of Istanbul Şeyh Zayed Children's Homes Site.
“Personal Information Form” and “Baby Parent Play Behaviours Observation Form” were used as data collection tools. To examine differences in caregiver’ sensitive caregiving skills according to selected characteristics, non-parametric statistical analysis were employed. The Mann-Whitney U Test was used for bivariate analyzses; while the Kruskal Wallis tests was applied in
analyses with more than two independent variables.
According to the results of the study, it was found that the sensitivity of the caregivers working in institutional care is at a high level, although there are deficiencies in certain sensitive behaviors. In addition, while significant differences were identified between caregivers’ sensitive caregiving skills and the variables of age, educational status, and length of employment, no significant differences were found in relation to marital status or having children.
