Examination of Turkey’s and European Union Member States’ Health Indicators with Multidimensionel Scaling

Öz

It is aimed to investigate the potential similarities among European Union member countries and candidate countries, considering their health indicators according to each other and present their level of development in order to prove if health industry has an effect on the level of development. From the World Health Report for the period 20052015, the Core Health Indicators have been obtained for 33 countries and multidimensional scaling analysis have been performed by using related variables. Stress value was found 0.022 for 2 dimensional configuration. As a result of multidimensional scaling analysis it has been seen that, countries have been formed three groups in two dimensional space, according to related variables. Turkey showed clear difference from the other candidate countries such as Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially with regard to health indicators related to the mortality rates.
