Din Psikolojisi Bağlamında Ölüm Eşiği Deneyimleri (Near Death Experiences)

Öz

Bu çalışmada Ölüm Eşiği Deneyimleri(ÖED) din psikolojisi çerçevesinde

ele alınmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, yaşayanların hayatlarında dini

ve psikolojik açıdan köklü değişikliklere neden olan bu deneyimde

görülen temel karakteristiklere, deneyim öncesi, esnası ve sonrasındaki

psiko-sosyal durumlara ışık tutulmaktadır. Konuya ilişkin kavram

analizlerini ve ÖED literatürünü içermenin yanı sıra çalışmanın

en özgün katkısı, nitel araştırma modellerinden mülakat tekniğiyle

elde edilen veriler vasıtasıyla olmuştur. Amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle

belirlenen ve kartopu tekniğiyle ulaşılan, ÖED yaşamış 13 kişiyle

mülakat yapılmıştır. Araştırma neticesinde ÖED öncesinde kişinin

sahip olduğu inançlara, kişilik yapılarına ve ruhsal hallere; ÖED esnasında

görülen bilişsel, afektif, paranormal ve transandantal unsurlara;

son olarak da ÖED sonrasında kişinin inançlarında, ibadetlerinde,

kişiliğinde, ölüme ve ölüm sonrasına bakışında meydana gelen değişikliklere

ilişkin dikkat çekici bulgulara ulaşılmıştır.

NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES IN THE CONTEXT OF PSYCHOLOGY OF RELIGION

Öz

In the present paper, Near Death Experiences (NDEs) are examined from the perspective of psychology of religion. Within this framework, the aim is to shed light on NDEs’ basic features as well as the psychosocial attitudes observed during pre-, mid- and post-experience which have profound effects that change the experiencers’ religious beliefs and psychological states. The study does not only include relevant concept analysis and NDE literature but also bears an original approach thanks to the data collected by qualitative re- search models adopted through interviews. A total of 13 near death experiencers selected using purposive sampling methods and contacted through the snowball technique were interviewed.In consequence of the research while the findings related to the beliefs, 

personality types, psychological states before NDE obtained about pre-experience; the cognitive, affective, paranormal and trans- cendental components obtained about mid-experience and lastly, differences in belief, personality, view for  death and after-life are

obtained about post-experience.
