TÜRKİYE’DE DİPLOMALI İŞSİZLİK: İŞSİZ ÜNİVERSİTE MEZUNLARININ İŞ PİYASASI ÖRÜNTÜLERİ

Öz

Bu çalışma, Türkiye’de diplomalı işsizlik olgusunu eğitim alanlarını merkeze alarak inceleme amacı taşımaktadır. 2014-2019 yıllarını kapsayan Hanehalkı İşgücü Anketi mikro veri setleri kullanılarak mezuniyet alanları sekiz grupta toplanmış ve mezunların işgücü piyasasındaki geçiş matrisleri gösterilmiştir. Heckman iki aşamalı tahmincisi ile örneklem seçim yanlılığı kontrol edilerek işsizlik-mezuniyet alanı ilişkisi ekonometrik olarak test edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar eğitimli işsizliğinin kalıcı karakterine işaret etmektedir. Sağlık ve sosyal hizmet bölümleri, eğitim bilimleri ve kişisel hizmetler, ulaşım, güvenlik bölümlerinden mezun olanların işsizlik ihtimali göreceli olarak daha düşük bulunmuştur.

GRADUATE UNEMPLOYMENT IN TURKEY: LABOR MARKET PATTERNS OF UNEMPLOYED UNIVERSITY GRADUATES

Öz

This study aims to examine the phenomenon of graduate unemployment in Turkey by focusing on fields of study. Using micro datasets of the Household Labor Force Survey covering the years 2014-2019, the fields of study are aggregated in eight groups and the transition matrices of the graduates in the labor market are presented. By controlling the sample selection bias with the Heckman two-stage estimator, the relationship between unemployment and the fields of study are tested econometrically. The obtained results point to the permanent character of educated unemployment. Unemployment probability is found to be relatively lower for health, educational sciences, social services and security, transportation and personal services graduates.
