Van Gölü Havzasında Elde Edilen Obsidyenlerden Üretilen Deneysel Yontmataş Aletlerin Kullanım İzi Analizi

Öz

Kazılarda elde edilen verinin niteliğinin artırılması için deneysel çalışmalar yapılır. Deneysel arkeolojinin kapsamı içinde bulunan kullanım izi analizi çalışmaları Paleolitik dönem insan toplulukları tarafından üretilen yontmataşların hangi amaçla ve ne tür materyallerde kullanıldıklarını ortaya koyabilmektedir. Paleolitik dönem insanları ürettikleri yontmataşları farklı aktivitelerde kullanılmak üzere tasarlar ve kullanırlar. Bu aletlerin tipolojik ve işlevsellikleri arasındaki ilişkiyi bütüncül bir şekilde ortaya koyabilmek için kullanım izi analizi çalışmaları yapılmaktadır. Bu araştırmada Van Gölü Havzasının önemli volkanik dağlarından biri olan Meydan dağının obsidyenleri kullanılarak deneysel replika yontmataşlar üretilmiştir. Üretilen bu yontmataşlar deri, ağaç, kemik ve boynuz gibi materyallerde kullanılmıştır. Yontmataşların kullanılan kenarında kullanıma bağlı olarak oluşan izleri mikroskop altında incelenerek fotoğraflama işlemi yapılmış ve bir veri tabanı oluşturulmuştur. Bu çalışma kapsamında elde edilen iz analizi sonuçlarıyla, bu alanda literatürde yer alan diğer bilimsel çalışmalardaki iz analizleri karşılaştırılarak aralarındaki benzerlik ve farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca bu çalışmada ortaya konulan kullanım izi analizleri daha sonra yapılacak deneysel çalışmalar için bir veri tabanı niteliği taşıyacaktır. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar literatürde mevcut olan kullanım izi veri tabanıyla karşılaştırılmış ve benzer kullanım izlerinin benzer materyallerde kullanıldığı belgelenmiştir.

Use-Wear Analysis of Experimental Chipped Stone Tools Produced from Obsidians Obtained From the Van Lake Basin

Öz

Experimental studies are conducted to increase the quality of the data obtained in excavations. Use-wear analysis studies within the scope of experimental archaeology can reveal for what purposes and in what types of materials the chipped stones produced by Paleolithic human communities were used. Paleolithic people designed and used the chipped stones (lithic) they produced to be used in different activities. Use-wear analysis studies are conducted to reveal the relationship between the typology and functionality of these tools in a holistic way. In this study, experimental (replica) chipped stones were produced using obsidians from Meydan Mountain, one of the important volcanic mountains of Lake Van Basin. These produced chipped stones were used in materials such as leather, wood, bone and horn. The traces formed on the used edge of the chipped stones due to use were examined under a microscope, photographed and a database was created. Use-wear analysis results obtained within the scope of this study were compared with the trace analyses in other scientific studies in the literature in this field and the similarities and differences between them were determined. In addition, the usage trace analyses presented in this study will serve as a database for further experimental studies. As a result, the results obtained in this study were compared with the usage trace database available in the literature and it was documented that similar use-wear (usage trace) were used in similar materials
