Sosyo-Ekonomik Özelliklerin Çevresel Bilinç Üzerine Etkileri: Van İli Örneği

Öz

Toplumsal yaşamın etkilediği ve etkilendiği unsurlardan biri çevre olarak kabul edilmektedir. İnsanoğlu her geçen gün hava, su, toprak, doğal bitki örtüsü, hayvan türleri ve kültürel çevrenin tahribatı gibi pek çok çevre sorunu ile karşılaşmaktadır. Söz konusu çevre sorunları ile mücadele etmenin temel şartı çevre bilinci kazanmaktan geçmektedir. Çevre bilinci, çevreyi oluşturan unsurlar hakkında bilgi sahibi olarak çevreyi korumacı davranışlar sergilemeyi kapsamaktadır. Çevreyi korumaya dönük önlemlerin son elli yılda arttığı gözlenmektedir. Bu önlemler arasında uluslar arası işbirliği ve sözleşmelerin önemli bir yeri bulunmaktadır.1972 Stockholm konferansı, 1992 Rio Dünya Zirvesi, 2005 Kyoto Protokolü ve 2016 Paris Anlaşması söz konusu sözleşmelerden bazılarıdır. Çevreyi koruma konusunda atılan bu uluslar arası adımların başarısı üzerinde etkin unsurlardan biri sosyo-ekonomik özellikler olarak görülmektedir. Zira her toplumun kendine has sosyo-ekonomik özellikleri çevre ile ilişkisinde belirleyici olmaktadır. Ma ve Bateson (1999) çevre ile sosyo-ekonomik özellikler arasında etkileşim olduğu hatta bu ilişkinin pozitif olduğunu ifade etmektedir. Bu araştırma kapsamında sosyo-ekonomik özelliklerin çevresel bilinç üzerine etkileri Van ili örneğinde analiz edilmiştir. Analiz bulgularına göre 60 yaş üstü ile eğitim ve gelir düzeyi yüksek olan bireylerin çevreye daha duyarlı oldukları tespit edilmiştir.

The Effects of Socio-Economic Characteristics on Environmental Awareness: The Case of Van City

Öz

It is accepted that social life affects the environment and social life in its environment. Human beings are meeting day by day such as air, water, soil, natural vegetation, animal species, and destruction of the cultural environment. The main condition for dealing with these environmental problems is to gain environmental awareness. Environmental awareness involves exhibiting environmentally friendly behaviors by having information about the components of the environment. It is observed that measures to protect the environment have increased in the last fifty years. Among these measures, international cooperation and contracts have an important place. Some of these agreements are the 1972 Stockholm conference, the 1992 Rio World Summit, the 2005 Kyoto Protocol, and the 2016 Paris Agreement. One of the effective factors on the success of these international steps taken in environmental protection is seen as socio-economic features. Because the unique socio-economic characteristics of each society are decisive in their relationship with the environment. Ma and Bateson (1999) state that there is an interaction between the environment and socio-economic characteristics and even this relationship is positive. In this research, the effects of socio-economic characteristics on environmental awareness are analyzed in the case of Van city. According to the analysis findings, it has been determined that individuals over the age of 60 and with a high level of education and income are more sensitive to the environment.
