Comparison of uterin artery doppler indices, endometrial thickness and histopathological findings of symptomatic and asymptomatic postmenopausal women

Objective: In this study we aimed to demonstrate the utility of Doppler Ultrasound (USG) as a screening tool by means of defining the sensitivity and specificity of Doppler USG findings and endometrial thickness in determining endometrial pathologies in postmenopausal women. Plan: Prospective Cohort Patients: 57 women with postmenopausal bleeding and 57 control women without postmenopausal bleeding. None of them received hormon replacement therapy. Tests: Doppler USG, Endometrial sampling Evaluation: Endometrial thickness and uterine artery Doppler indices were defined prior to endometrial sampling. Histopathological findings were compared with endometrial thickness and uterine artery RI and PI values. A p value of less than 0.05 was considered significant with a confidence interval of 95 %. Results: Sensitivity and specificity of endometrial thickness in (acceptedcut-off5.5 mm) determining endometrial pathologies were found to be % 76 and % 52. Sensitivity and specificity of uterine artery Doppler indices in determining endometrial pathologies were calculated alternately; right RI: 100%- 30%, leftRI: 83%- 52%, right PI: 100%-22%, left PI: 83%- 26%. Comment: Sensitivity and specificity of uterine artery Doppler indices in determining endometrial pathologies is significantly higher than sensitivity and specificity of endometrial thickness.

Postmenopozal semptomatik ve asemtomatik olgularda uterin arter doppler indeks, endometrial kalınlık ve histopatolojik bulguların karşılaştırılması

Objektif: Bu çalışmamızda, PMK'lı olgularda Doppler USG bulguları ve endometrium kalınlığının, endometrial patolojileri saptamadaki sensitivite ve spesifisitesini belirleyerek, Doppler USG nin bir tarama yöntemi olarak kullanılabilirliğini göstermeyi amaçladık.
