Graduated with honors from the Karaganda Musical College. Tattimbet (1974) and the Faculty of Theory and Composition of the Alma-Ata State Conservatory. Kurmangazy (1979). While studying at the conservatory A.N. Sokolova became a Lenin Scholar, more than once went to concerts at the Baikal-Amur Mainline and virgin lands, had an internship at the House-Museum of P.I. Tchaikovsky in Klin. Since 1979 A.N. Sokolova lives and works in Adyghea, first as a teacher at the Maikop School of Arts (1979-1996), then as a leading researcher at the Adyghea Republican Institute for Humanitarian Research (1991-1999). At the Adyghe State University A.N. Sokolova has been working since 1983, first as a part-time professor, and since 1999 as an assistant professor, then as head of the Department of Theory, History of Music and Methods of Musical Education (2000-2006) and professor.

For more than 30 years, A.N. Sokolova dedicated to the study of the Adyghe musical culture. She heads the scientific direction related to the study of the musical and artistic culture of the region. A.N. Sokolova wrote over three hundred scientific papers, including four monographs and 9 teaching aids. A significant part of her scientific works has been published in Europe. The works of the scientist made a significant contribution to the development of scientific thought about the Caucasian ethnic cultures, became part of the world ethnomusicology. Many Adyghe historical documents, including phonorecords, were returned to Adygea thanks to the research work of Alla Nikolaevna in the archives of Moscow, St. Petersburg, London and Paris. A large popularization work related to the analysis and presentation of the music of Adyghe composers and the work of performing musicians is carried out by A.N. Sokolova on the pages of the regional and central press.
