Bio
Dr. Daniela Ivanova-Nyberg was awarded her PhD (ethnochoreology) by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She also holds degrees in Bulgarian philology, philosophy and culturologia (Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”), choreography (Institute in Music and Choreography, Sofia). She has taught philosophy, ethnography, Bulgarian language, Bulgarian dance, and other disciplines in various institutions. Since 2013 she has served as artistic director for the Bulgarian Cultural and Heritage Center of Seattle. Major research interests: Bulgarian dance in Bulgaria and in the United States. She has been a member of the ICTM Study Group on Ethnochoreology since 2002.
