Dr. Sabhapathige Don Udesh Manoj Ranga is a health system specialist and researcher who has been working as a health care manager at the Ministry of Health for 14 years. He is a distinguished researcher in the fields of, health policy, health care quality improvement, occupational health, patient safety, and Kaizen. He obtained MBBS from the faculty of Medicine, University of, Kelaniya Sri Lanka, and MSc and MD (Doctor of Medicine) in health care management from the post graduate institute of medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Dr. Ranga obtained his post-doctoral training at the center for health service studies (CHSS), University of Kent, United Kingdom. He is a certified trainer of the application of KAIZEN for health care improvement in Japan.
As an experienced healthcare manager, Dr. Ranga worked as the director of district general hospital in Hambantota, Sri Lanka; as the deputy director of the National Dental Teaching Hospital in Sri Lanka; and as the medical superintendent of Base hospital, Balapitiya, Sri Lanka. Throughout his career, Dr. Ranga has conducted numerous health system research and applied health research projects to improve Sri Lanka's health care management.
He has presented his research work at the National Health Research Symposium in 2017 and 2019, the Colombo medical conference in 2020, and at annual scientific sessions of the College of Medical Administrators of Sri Lanka in 2016 and 2017. He is an editorial assistant for the Sri Lanka Journal of Health Research (SLJHR), an official publication of the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka. He is one of the reviewer board members of the international journal of infection control.
