Bio
Esma Yağmur SÖNMEZ is a research assistant and PhD student at Middle East Technical University International Relations department.
She has a Bachelor Degree in International Relations from Bilkent University, as the first ranking student both in the Department and in the Faculty. Sönmez also has a Minor Degree in Political Science from Bilkent University. Adding to these Bachelor Degrees from Bilkent University, she has a Bachelor Degree in Law from Kırıkkale University and Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Anadolu University. Considering post-graduate education, Sönmez has two Master’s Degree from Middle East Technical University, one is in European Studies and another in International Relations.
Besides above summarized academic sophistication, she has been working as a professional since 2012. Sönmez started her professional life as an advisor to deputy at Turkish Grand National Assembly that was followed by working an assistant trade specialist at Turkish Republic Ministry of Economy. Since April 2016, she has been working as an academic in Middle East Technical University International Relations Department.
International Law, European Union Law, European Studies, European Union- Turkey Relations and Gender Studies are some of her area of interest.
